The Denver Foundation Honors Top Professional Advisors with Annual Philanthropic Leadership Awards

Denver - The Denver Foundation’s mission is to inspire people and mobilize resources to strengthen the community.  On November 17, the Foundation, inspired by the commitment of hundreds of local professional advisors, honored three: Phil Keenan, Bob Phelps, and Judy Shine, for their outstanding work in helping to further that mission with this year’s Philanthropic Leadership Award.  The event, which was sponsored by Steele Street Bank, had more than 145 area professional advisors in attendance, including former honorees Don Burkhardt, Sherry Kenney, Mary Moser, Bill Schmidt, and David Thomas.

"Professional advisors are key partners with The Denver Foundation," stated Leslie Karotkin, the Foundation’s Manager of Advisor Programs and Senior Philanthropic Planner.  "We are so fortunate to work with so many advisors who are making an impact in this community because they recognize and value the significance of philanthropy." Last year, the Foundation, which is the region’s oldest and largest community foundation, awarded $68 million in grants.  "A very large percentage of that amount was made possible by gifts to the Foundation--most as a result of referrals by professional advisors,” stated David Miller, President of The Denver Foundation.
